New to WP
Hello. I'm the owner of a new HTC Radar from T-Mobile, and still learning about WP. My main phone is still a BlackBerry 9900, but I wanted to consider alternatives. I think WP is very promising, but there are still a few deal-breakers for me. The main one is the absence of the auto-wrap, or text reflow, in the browser. On the BB, or in the stock Android browser, if you're reading in a text frame, you can double-tap to zoom in, and the text dynamically reflows into the frame, fitting nicely onscreen. On the BB, you can set the default font size that it zooms to, so you get a fairly consistent reading experience. To my astonishment, none of this is possible in WP! Tapping just fits the text to the screen, which may or may not be helpful. I've found it mostly isn't helpful, so I end up either squinting to read web sites, or zooming and scrolling back and forth, which is annoying.
I'm hoping this will be improved in an update. It seems like such an important thing. Apart from that, and the absence of a couple of key apps, such as Audible, I really like WP. But I wish it were possible to know whether the text reflow thing will in fact be fixed, because if it won't be, I might as well sell the phone now. I'm not a kid anymore, and I'm not about to martyr my eyes trying to read web sites as long as there are alternatives.

Hey Ubizmo,
First of all...Welcome to Windows Phone Forun aka WPF...you have chosen a right place to talk about WP, we are more than happy to help you here...!!!
Talking about some setbacks of Windows Phone 7.5 OS...yes there has been a major development problem from Microsoft taking WP OS into consideration.
Well, Microsoft is really eager to demolish all these setbacks in their next upgraded version.
Talking about the "text reflow" thingy...I would like to tell you that you should try long tap instead of double tapping. IT WORKS...!!! This will solve your issue.
Windows Phone OS is a the best Mobile OS Microsoft has ever brought so don't panic and be in a hurry to sell your WP...!!
Visit this site frequently, and you are sure to find some amazing apps and help coming out of many developers like me.
So chill, hold on to your WP and I am damn sure that when some next update from Microsoft comes (it will be well soon), you are surely gonna dump your blackberry...!!!

It doesn't work for me. For example, try Chiff and Fipple Forums • View topic - Pleasantly surprised by a Dixon whistle! in your WP browser. It'll open the page. The print is pretty small. Double tap zooms it to screen width, but that's it. There is no reflow; the line breaks are the same, and the text is still pretty small, for me anyway. Too small for me to read comfortably for any length of time. Long tap does nothing at all. In fact, if I wanted to select and copy something, I don't know how to do it, but that's a separate question. The main thing is that double-tapping seems to be as good as it gets. To see it better, I can either zoom and scroll or turn it to landscape, or both. In contrast, on my BB if I double-tap this same page, it'll zoom to the default text size that I choose in Options and reflow the text to fit, so no scrolling is necessary.
On this particular web page, turning the phone to landscape works pretty well, but since there's no default text size in WP, it doesn't always work. Some pages are still pretty small even in landscape. As I wrote above, I think the Android browser works much the same as the BB browser; I'm not sure about iPhone. Since I do a good amount of reading of web forums and blogs, not all of which have mobile-friendly alternate pages, this is a high priority item for me.

I plan to keep the Radar for a while anyway, to see how things shape up. At the moment, I'm not using it that much, because of this problem. I researched before I bought it, but I didn't think to check for text reflow. I just assumed it would be there. I knew about the missing Audible app, but I also knew that the people at Audible had promised a WP version by March, so that's not so bad.

Welcome aboard ubizmo!!! Great to have you here! As LiF3 just pointed out if you have any questions just jump right in and ask! Enjoy!!!

OK...I understand you now...!!!
But let me tell u Ubizmo that every OS has its own setbacks...!!! The features available are always comparable.
Keeping the setbacks aside, I know that a lot of people are not happy with the present WP OS from Microsoft as I told you earlier.
But, there is always a solution to a problem...For example, no one knew that WP7 can be used as a MODEM....we found a way out and now we can use it as MODEM...similarly...we can use our WP7 as a MASS STORAGE rather than connect it in zune.
There is no integrated file browser in WP7 but we created one and now we browse files in WP7....!!!
SO ubizmo, I am a proud follower of WP7 and would recommend you to just browse this forum or my section and you are gonna find solutions to all your problems....!!!
If you need any assistance or you think about some application...let me know...!!!
I am a developer and would love to get some ideas from you people...!!!

I'll have to find out more about how to bypass Zune and transfer files in mass storage mode. On the whole I like the interface and the availability of the Skydive app. The browser text issue seems like the sort of thing that could easily be fixed in an update, if MS has the will to do it.
I'm very pleased with the battery life, and that's a key item for me. It's why I never kept an Android phone longer than a week or so. I'd prefer some less "electric" colors for the tiles, and I think there's a way to do that.
And I really enjoy the Wordament game!

I've had my Nokia Lumia 710 for 10 days now and the easiest smartphone I've ever used! I love everything about it and I'm sure I'll come to love the tweaks and hacks that have always been associated with Windows Mobile Devices.
Been around long enough and had enough smartphone to know that Windows Phone 7 is the BEST EVER!
