It's almost time for another computer, and with Black Friday coming up might be the perfect time to jump on a deal. Any recommendations?

All depends on what you are looking for. Desktop or laptop? General use or gaming or video editing or...
In general, an Intel Core i5 or i7 with as much RAM as possible for a desktop. Core i3/i5 for a laptop.
What would be the best 'bang for buck' gaming computer in your opinion?
Well, I just built a machine with a Core i5-760, 8gb RAM, and an MSI Fuzion p55A motherboard. I had 2 8800GTX cards that I am using in SLI. I got the Fuzion motherboard cause it has the Lucid chipset that allows you to mix and match graphics cards (like an ATI 4000 series or later with a nVidia 9000 series or later).
Sounds like a pretty awesome setup, but what kind of price range are you looking at?
Mainly looking for something to do a little bit of everything. I'm not a major gamer and would like to start producing some how-to videos (for win7 phones). Kinda leaning towards this one:
HP has the HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410t Intel Core i5-760 Quad-Core Desktop Computer for $704.99 Free Shipping after Coupon Code: SVMB39487 (Exp Soon). Tax in most.
Intel Core i5-760 Quad-Core @ 2.8GHz; 6GB RAM; 1TB HDD; DVD burner; gigabit; Win7; ATI Radeon HD5450 512MB; card reader; 1yr warranty; 15mo Norton Internet Security 2011
That HPE-410t would make a good machine to start with. At some point you may want to add ram or upgrade the video card, but it is a solid foundation.
I am very keen to find out what the new Ivy Bridge Processors are to actually offer as an advantage compared to the earlier Sandy ones that sure offered a big boost in terms of power and utilization of resources.
Most of the emphasis are being directed to how efficient on water consumption they are and I am excited to learn if that will be enough to merit others an upgrade and what is more to it than what is being said about it.
i agree, an intel core i5 or 6 should be more than sufficient. Desktop or laptop? If its laptop, there are many intel core i5s n 6s here. There is even a intel core i7!
