    Help focus wont screen time-out??

My samsung focus wont screen time out. Like if you press the off button the screen will turn off then turn back on right away (it shuts down fine). It works fine when its on charger. Screen time out on my phone right now is set to 30 seconds and it hasnt turned off yet, it's been several hours.

I've tried a few things to fix it, shutting it down and restarting it, keeping it shut off for a while and changing screen time out settings.

EDIT: When ring + vibrate is on, it wont stop making that beep noise.
When in settings > battery saver the "estimated time remaining:... time since last charge:" wont stop blinking

My phone has never been dropped in water (that im aware of) I bought it refurbed.

    Please help!

    Thanks,
    Ivy

it happened new years day. im thinking it has something to do with any of the updates to the phone. like the update didn't recognize the new year. so i'm hoping once theres a new update, and i update my phone all the problems will fix. Another thing is my phone fixes itself sometimes. so i get like 1-2 days a week where it doesn't work properly. I went to the shop to try and get it fixed, they tried their best to fix it. but said they couldn't fix it and told me to buy a new one. my 90 day warranty was up. i found that really stupid that it's only a 90 day warranty. Also the fact that i had NOTHING to do with this problem why wouldnt they just give me a new phone? It was the phone or whatever. I kept changing the settings trying to figure out if i could fix it on my own. my phone was always a minute off even though it was set to automatic, so i set it to proper time. shut it off and restarted and the problem was still there, so i set it back to automatic.

hmm at first my phone was fine, but like you said i got a q-tip and cut it up and used it to clean it (idk how a bobby pin fit in yours..) and then it started to do tthe problems again! so i was like oh no! but i also thought wow this is probably the problem if just barely touching the usb port affected it. so i continued to clean it and the problems went away. we'll see how this goes. Thanks!!!

    I'm experiencing the same problem.

My Samsung focus S has been going strong for about 8 months now and randomly, out of the blue, it begins acting up. The buttons all work fine and don't seem to be jammed but when I hit the lock/sleep button on the top right the screen briefly goes black before coming right back on. The phone will sit on the lock screen indefinitely without timing out.

Also, the screen responsiveness is terrible. It's like anything you try to do must be done before the phone can refresh. So touch doesn't always respond. Swiping is extremely frustrating because you cannot complete the motion quickly enough. The phone forgets you were in the middle of a swiping motion.

I thought I had damaged the screen and proceeded to beat my phone on things to see if I could fix it. I thought maybe I had damaged one of the buttons and tried depressing them forcefully to knock some sense into them. But everything works perfectly when the thing is plugged in. So I will try cleaning the USB port like you have said. Thanks for the help yearlingchuy, hopefully it works.
