Synching contacts on Windows Phone 7.5

I have a problem synching my new Lumia 800 phone running WP7.5 with my primary Windows Live account which has the form xyz@outlook.com

I can send and receive emails.

However, my contacts do not update although they must have uploaded initially because they were imported from my phone at the time I set up its primary Live Id. Now, neither new contacts on the phone nor in my contacts entered via my PC synchronize. Thus I have two increasingly divergent sets of contacts, one on the phone and one stored in outlook.com.

Initially the error code on the phone was 86000108, but it is now 80070490 'Attention required'.

By the way, I also have a Googlemail account on the phone and this is synching without any problems. So is another @outlook.com account that I added as a test!

Thus I am at risk of losing all the new contacts that I have added to my phone. Ideally I would download the contacts via the USB cable from my phone to my PC and I would then reset my phone. I used to be able to do this with Nokia Ovi Suite with my old phone but WP7.5 on my Lumia 800 doesn't work with OVI suite.

I'm thinking that you can only sync one email contact source to your Win 7.5. If Googlemail was first that is why it is working.
Are your contacts on googlemail?
On your xyz@outlook.com how many contacts lists do you have?

It is not true that only one email contact source may be synchronised. I have more than one working fine (an @outlook.com and an @googlemail.com).

I have now deleted all the contacts in my Windows Primary Live Id account both on the phone and on the website, and re-entered them in the xyz@outlook.com web account - after which they have all appeared on my phone and continue to synchronise whenever I make changes on the web site (but not the other way round!). In this way I have partially worked around this particular problem with my primary Windows Live account. That is, I simply don't use it!

I guess I could now reset the phone since I have already preserved my contacts (the hard way)! I am a little bit scared, however, because I am finding that there are many difficulties and unknowns with the Windows Phone o/s.

What is more, I am not in the UK where my account is based, and therefore if anything goes wrong I am on my own and could end up with no phone service at all.

To tell the truth I am a bit disillusioned!

Since you are having different sets of your contacts, try this. Login to you google account via computer, go to google contacts and import contacts from your outlook account, remove duplicate contacts, you will have all your contacts at one place. Now from your phone delete all your contact data and sync it with your Google contacts.

I tried this trick with my Android phone, let me know if it worked with Windows phone too.
