Electronic Arts is in talks with Microsoft to bring mobile games to Windows 8 as it sees the operating system as central to its handset strategy. Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore said in a phone interview “We’re working very closely with Microsoft to understand what their views on gaming navigation are. Anything that allows more platforms to be adopted quickly that have a gaming element is good for Electronic Arts.”

Microsoft needs developers to create products for its platform to take on Apple's iPhone and devices powered by Google's Android software. EA realizes the importance of moving into the mobile and tablet space, while still maintaining a presence with boxed retail products. This should prove to be a tremendous payoff for Microsofts mobile OS. Robert Jakobsen, an analyst at Jyske Bank A/S, says that "it is important to attract the gamers and due to Windows Phone 8’s relation to the classical Windows PC programs, it is a good platform for game developers. This is clearly a step forward for Microsoft’s mobile operation system.” We couldn't agree more. Microsoft has their work cut out for them and they certainly are moving in the right direction.
